HOW DO ORGANIZATIONAL SYSTEMS LIVE IN THE BODY?

ABOUT

Most organizations try to solve burnout, innovation, engagement, and leadership as cognitive or cultural problems. But culture lives in bodies.

Every organization teaches people how much space to take up, what emotions are acceptable, what gets rewarded, and which parts of themselves must be left behind to succeed.

Over time, these patterns become embodied. That’s where my work begins.

I work at the intersection of somatics, organizational sociology, and the future of work to help organizations understand not only what people do, but what their systems repeatedly teach people to become.

WHAT SETS US APART

Somatic sociology is an interdisciplinary framework, drawing from sociology, organizational studies, phenomenology, and somatics, to understand how social system like organizations, technologies, and social systems become embodied.

We begin with investigations like:

  • What kind of body does this workplace reward?

  • What emotional states are required to succeed here?

  • Which human capacities are strengthened?

  • Which slowly disappear?

  • What happens to creativity when urgency becomes the default?

  • What does constant digital communication teach the nervous system?

  • What does performance culture feel like in the body?

Investigations on

  • Work & Culture

What does success require from people’s bodies? How do we relate to change - in the body and the organization? Where does cognitive performance override bodily presence? What invisible behaviors are consistently rewarded? Which aspects of work culture exist only in policy and which exist in the body?

  • Leadership

How can embodiment be the central practice of the new generation of leaders and organizations? What happens to decision-making under chronic urgency? How do leaders communicate pressure without realizing it?

  • Creativity & Innovation

What conditions reliably produce original thinking? How do we learn to harness the power and wisdom of pleasure rather than trying to erase the body, the erotic, the connective tissue from society? What does innovation feel like in the body? How do we listen, support, collaborate and grow through co-regulation? Through fusion?

  • Attention & Sustainability

Can deep attention be the most pleasurable experience we have in our collective bodies? What is communication culture teaching attention? What body does high performance currently require? What would sustainable ambition actually feel like?
